Life Coaching - Case Study
I could recount many success stories with any number of presenting issues, but have chosen chosen one to illustrate what a profound difference Life Coaching can make.
Tom (not his real name) came to see me at the end of 2007 and was suffering from acute anxiety which was affecting every area of his life. He was very worried about the impact it was having on his work, in particular a major upcoming event that he was responsible for. I could tell straight away that he was absolutely committed to ridding himself of this problem. After the first session he began to notice a shift in how he was feeling. We continued working together, at a pace and intensity that Tom was comfortable with and after six sessions he was back to his old self. He has given me permission to reproduce an edited version of the letter he sent to me recently:-
Hi Stephen,
I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that the ******* went brilliantly last week. I couldn't have felt more in control or on better form if I'd have wanted to, I really enjoyed them - having been so worried I would crack under the pressure. I turned the adrenaline into excitement rather than nerves, and dealt calmly with things that were going wrong, and found that even in the most stressful of times I still kept my sense of humour and a smile. I almost want to do them again, and that's something I never thought I'd say!
I am so grateful for all you've done to get me to that stage, and the techniques you've taught me and the results it's had have been nothing short of miraculous. I can't quite believe the transformation, I am now enjoying life and work again and relishing the challenges, instead of running from them. So THANK YOU for making it all happen, I am truly indebted to you. I have also been meaning to thank you for the *************, which was so kind of you and really made me feel you believed in me. I really can't thank you enough....
It's very rewarding receiving letters like that but I did point out to Tom that it was his own commitment to change that got him through this challenging time in his life.
